Steven Stamkos has been a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning for fifteen years, but three days off of free agency, it appears things may be coming to an end.

UPDATE
Per Steven Stamkos' agent, he will be hitting free agency.
From Stamkos' agent Don Meehan, who tells me regarding his client:
«He will be a free agent on July 1.»
So would appear Stamkos is going to market Monday unless something changes in Tampa's position.
Per a new interview with Tampa Bay Lightning general manager Julien BriseBois, there is no deal in place to extend captain Steven Stamkos, and it is entirely possible that a deal will not get done by the first day of free agency. Several suitors have already come forward as possibilities for the former 60-goal scorer, including the Detroit Red Wings, Nashville Predators, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Julien BriseBois said they have met with Steven Stamkos & his agents as recently as yesterday said they have not been able to come to a deal at this point that satisfies both sides, won't add more other than he's not sure if they will be able to get a deal done by Monday.

Added that both sides are still interested and motivated to get a deal completed, but not there at this point.
Julien BriseBois met Steven Stamkos' agent yesterday but there is no assurance yet that he will return with the @TBLightning next season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning had significant success with Steven Stamkos, winning two Stanley Cups most importantly. This would mark the beginning of the end of an incredible era of hockey in Tampa Bay, just as their rival Florida Panthers come into their own.
