The continuous standoff brewing between the Boston Bruins and restricted free agent goaltender, Jeremy Swayman doesn't appear to be ending anytime soon.

The two sides are reportedly far apart and now we know why. The price has been revealed from the side of the 25 year old anchor.
Swayman's asking for $10 million a year! That would put him up there with Stanley Cup Champion Sergei Bobrovsky of the Florida Panthers and Montreal Canadiens legend Carey Price, who are the only goalies with a $10 million cap hit in NHL history.
Price hasn't played since 2022, so it's just Bobrovsky among active goalies making that kind of money, with New York Rangers super stopper and Vezina winner Igor Shesterkin set to join the club next Summer and likely watching these negotiations closely.
Swayman has been a durable goaltender, but hasn't done enough to show he's worth that much. There's no Vezina trophies to his name and he has the reputation of being shaky when given the opportunity to run away with the top spot on the depth chart.
Both Swayman and the Bruins must sort things out before the season starts. Boston already traded reigning Vezina winner Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators, and they don't want to enter the season with a tender of Jonas Korpisalo and Brandon Bussi between the pipes.
Swayman, meanwhile, doesn't have many options as a restricted free agent unless another team pays him and that's unlikely considering the cost involved.
If this drags into the season, Swayman has until December 1 to sign or he's ineligible to play for the rest of the year. So this should be interesting as he fights for his money and GM Don Sweeny protects his long-term cap space.
