The NHL world was shocked after the LA Kings managed to move Pierre-Luc Dubois this past week, and now we know two other teams that were in on the star forward.

Despite the ongoing Stanley Cup Finals, we saw a flurry of moves in the NHL this past week, most notably on the day that both Pierre-Luc Dubois and Jacob Markstrom were officially traded. Markstrom was a long-time coming, but the Dubois deal truly shocked many, as there was a belief that the Kings wouldn't be able to move his huge contract.
Now however, renowned NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman has addressed the situation, revealing that there were at least two other teams interested in acquiring the Canadian forward.
On PLD: Elliotte says a pretty good source told him there were other teams who were legitimately interested in acquiring him. Elliotte and Jeff guess it's Boston and Montreal. #GoKingsGo #AllCaps #NHLBruins #GoHabsGo #NHL
Given the links to Montreal, Friedman and Jeff Marek speculated that would have been one of the other teams, while also predicting that the Boston Bruins were deep in talks to acquire Dubois. In the end, it was the Washington Capitals who landed PLD and his entire contract with a return of goaltender Darcy Keumper, and now, both Boston and Montreal will continue to be active to improve their rosters ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
