With roster strategy talk on the rise, popular YouTuber Logan Paul may have leaked that Auston Matthews will take over for John Tavares as the Toronto Maple Leafs' new captain.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have had one of the longest Stanley Cup droughts in the NHL, losing in the first round of playoffs yet again to the Boston Bruins. Understandably, the team has tried to reverse their fate, including replacing Sheldon Keefe with Craig Berube as their new head coach.
"OFFICAL: The Toronto Maple Leafs have relived Sheldon Keefe of his head coaching duties. The Toronto Maple Leafs will name Craig Berube the 32nd Head coach in franchise history."
Aside from staff replacements, talks have moved towards mixing up the Core 4, particularly forward Mitch Marner, who could waive his no-trade clause for the right deal. However, Toronto fans have now shifted their attention to Logan Paul, who may have accidentally leaked 26-year-old Auston Matthews as the new captain for the Maple Leafs.

John Tavares has served as the team captain and part of Toronto's Core 4, but now could be on his way out according to a graphic in Logan Paul's new video. In this, Auston Matthews is referred to as an NHL captain, not just an assistant he is currently listed as.

Though the graphic makes a clear position, it is not confirmed whether Auston Matthews will be Toronto's captain in the upcoming season. Yet, with 33-year-old forward John Tavares going into his last year on contract and a new coach in Craig Berube, it could be closer to reality than it first seems. Whatever the case, the Maple Leafs can look forward to his presence on the ice.
