Jaromir Jagr has a battle on his hands as the City of Kladno has terminated his lease for his team's home arena, meaning the Kladno Knights may be homeless soon.

While many hockey players, even the good ones, can be polarizing for fans at times, one thing seemed to remain constant over the years: everyone loves Hall-of-Famer Jaromir Jagr. However, it appears the City of Kladno has had enough of him, and has terminated his lease for the arena that acts as the homebase for the Kladno Knights, the team Jagr owns and plays for.

According to the City of Kladno, Jaromir Jagr skipped out on a recent six-month payment for the lease of the arena. The City states Jagr asked for more time, and then didn't respond to calls to work something out.

"The ongoing season is not in any way threatened," city spokesman Vít Heral told Sport.cz

Jaromir Jagr, who announced he would be officially retiring from the sport of hockey after this season, has until the end of the 2024-25 year to renegotiate the lease for the Kladno Knights, or face being homeless. Milan Volf, the mayor of Kladno who once played for the team, said every cent that is made at the arena goes to Jagr and the Kladno Knights so he's not sure what the issue is.

"So we have to wonder why Jaromir Jagr is not able to honour his year-long contract and pay two million crowns ($86,000 USD) compared to the roughly 40 million crowns ($1.7 million USD) the contract brought him."

Volf seems to have a bit of an ongoing dispute doing with Jaromir Jagr, and said earlier this year that the NHL legend shouldn't be involved in the management side of things.

"It's time for him to no longer be in charge of ice hockey in Kladno."

Neither Jaromir Jagr nor anyone with the Kladno Knights would respond to questions from the media regarding the lease issue. The terminated lease would have kept the team in its current arena until 2032. It was initially signed way back in 2013.
