Rangers under fire for possible tampering in Barclay Goodrow waiver claim

The New York Rangers wanted to move Barclay Goodrow, and after finding a way to get it done, they have come under fire for possible tampering.

Following another Stanley Cup Playoff disappointment, the New York Rangers came into the off-season looking to make some big changes to their roster. Initially, it was believed that the Rangers were looking to trade Barclay Goodrow, with the San Jose Sharks reportedly showing plenty of interest.

Unfortunately for General Manager Chris Drury, the veteran forward had the Sharks on his no-trade list, ultimately leading to being placed on waivers;

Now however, there's a twist in the story, with sources revealing Goodrow's displeasure with the way the Rangers went about their business, with reported discussions between Drury and the Sharks leading to waivers, where the Sharks had the prime opportunity to claim Goodrow.

It's unclear whether or not the Rangers and Sharks could face any punishment for tampering, but it makes total sense that Goodrow would be unhappy about the underhanded way they moved off him. Whatever the case, the Sharks have now claimed Goodrow, with the Rangers saving key cap space while San Jose have found a veteran forward to potentially lead this young roster going forward.
