After a disappointing end to their Stanley Cup Playoff push, the New York Rangers have kick-started their off-season on Tuesday with a shocking move, as they waived playoff hero Barclay Goodrow.
Goodrow started his career in San Jose before spending the last three seasons in New York, where he struggled to fire in 2023-24, tallying just 12 points in 80 games played. That came on the back of two career years with the Rangers, but without the production the team expected of him, New York felt it necessary to move on.
With the Sharks still in their rebuild with a very impressive group of prospects, Goodrow could work as a fantastic veteran and potentially even get them a solid return at the trade deadline, but either way, it could be a great move for the young team.
